Note: Genuine authentic assessment leads to student reflection and metacognition (Learning more about their own learning). It is never about "correcting papers" or limited to finding right or wrong answers.
- Students have the opportunity to use their own work as a tool for further learning.
- With clear assessment goals and their own personal goals in hand, students analyze their own work. They determine how closely their efforts match those goals and what they need to do in order to reach and surpass them.
- Given clear assessment goals, "Round Robin" assessment by peers .
- Students invite other students to make suggestions on their work or challenge their thinking.
- Assessment by panel consisting of one or a combination of the following:
- Teachers
- Parents or P.T.A. members
- Non-teaching staff
- Senior students or experts in the discipline
- Present project to professionals in the field for assessment.
