Sam Crowell

I am a professor of education at California State University, San Bernardino, where I specialize in curriculum studies, teacher development and holistic education.   I have worked with Renate and Geoffrey Caine for over a decade focusing on Brain-Based Learning and Restructuring and one of their schools which was featured on NEA’s Teacher TV.  I have co-authored two books with the Caines, Mindshifts and The Re-Enchantment of Learning, as well as a 60 minute video.

I have also worked with schools and districts on Collaborative Action Inquiry, Integrated Curriculum, School-to-Work programs, High School Academies, Interdisciplinary Studies and Diversity.  My work in holistic and transformative learning has provided opportunities to work with holistic educators in Canada and Mexico, and to accept invitations as a key-note speaker for conferences, public lectures series, and school districts. I am active as a presenter in programs and workshops throughout California and across the country.

I have been used as a consultant with subject matter frameworks in the arts, social studies, environmental education and the sciences.  I have worked with high schools, middle schools, and elementary schools on a variety of innovations and served as a consultant for the California Center for School Restructuring.  I have lectured and presented widely on ways to apply brain research to teaching and learning.
